Submission Guidelines

Submission guidelines for The Frame

We welcome thoughtful, personal and creative responses to the theme.

You do not need to be a professional writer or artist. The Frame is interested in honest voices, strong ideas and lived experience — whether hopeful, critical, conflicted, funny, unsettling or somewhere in between.

We are currently accepting:

  • Personal essays and lived-experience writing
  • Articles and opinion pieces
  • Short fiction
  • Poetry
  • Visual art, illustration, photography and collage

Possible subjects include AI and therapy, loneliness, relationships, work, creativity, identity, privacy, neurodivergence, accessibility, companionship and what it means to be human.

Written submissions should ideally approximately 1,500 words, although this is flexible.

Poetry submissions may include up to three poems, and artists may submit up to five images.

Please include:

  • Your name, or the name you would like published
  • A short bio
  • Any website or social-media links you would like included
  • A headshot, if relevant
  • Confirmation that the work is your own and that you are happy for The Frame to publish it

Anonymous and pseudonymous submissions are welcome where the subject matter is personal or sensitive.

The deadline for Issue 05 is 1 October 2026.

Send submissions or questions to: theframesubmissions@gmail.com or use the contact box on the website.

The Frame welcomes contributions from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, relationship or family structure, or socioeconomic background.

Publication is not guaranteed, and submissions may be lightly edited for spelling, clarity or length. Any substantial changes will be agreed with the contributor before publication.
